Special Education

St. Joseph’s College was given government recognition on November 7, 2003 for the SPECIAL EDUCATION COURSE WITH INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR MENTAL RETARDATION AND AUTISM.

In SY 2003-2004, it had an enrolment of thirty six students, one of whom is in the Kindergarten Department, two are mainstreamed in the Grade School Department and two in the High School Department. The special children have mental retardation, dyslexia, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, autism and/or global development delay.

Assisting them in their holistic development, especially in their behavior modification, are two administrators, three full-time teachers, one full-time occupational therapist, a part-time guidance counselor and a part-time shadow teacher.

The activities of the students are varied depending upon their capabilities. Participated by all, together with their parents/guardians are programs, socialization activities, physical fitness activities, games, and arts activities.
