June 5, 2012 kicked off the 80th year anniversary of St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City with an open house of the school archives. Visitors streamed in to view the evolution of SJCQC’s past to the present through various forms of presentation. Sister Ancilla Cabula, School Archivist, is the person responsible for setting up and maintaining this unit of the school, together with her staff.

}medical missionOn june 10, 2012, the health service department of sjcqc headed by sister theophile salcedo, followed with a whole day medical mission, which targeted servicing 800 clients to commemorate the 80th year of the school. the extension service department invited people from three barangays around the school, namely barangay obrero, barangay kristong hari, and barangay kalusugan to st. joseph’s college for check up and treatment. attending to the people were ten doctors from st. luke’s geriatric department, headed by dr. maria teresa ramirez, six pediatricians from the fe del mundo medical center, and the dentists and nurses of the school. student volunteers from the institute of nursing and the arts and sciences department of the college, as well as some operations personnel, were on hand to assist the doctors.

Laboratory services included bone density, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol testing, memory testing, and ecg. more than six hundred persons availed of these services. vitamins and other medicines donated by friends of st. joseph’s college, were also dispensed by the doctors and the dentists.

The mission closed at 4: 00 p.m., all participants happy at having served people who came seeking for help. Congratulations to Sister Theophile and her staff, who co-organized the event with the help of doctors from the Philippine Society of Geriatric Medicine.
