Graduate School
Vision
St. Joseph's College Graduate School envisions a teacher-training institution that could creatively respond to the continuing professional development of teachers. The institution's prerogative of effecting Christian presence in the academe through teacher education necessitates the collaborative efforts of all those involved in development for integral formation that is guided by goodness, wisdom, love, simplicity and personal witnessing of Gospel values. These are the values needed in building a dynamic community, establish facilitative structures and offer progressive and relevant programs and services for all, particularly the poor and the disadvantaged for the realization of the region of God.
Mission
In order to realize its vision, the Graduate School shall orient and direct its programs and activities towards the integral formation of agents of social transformation for the realization of the reign of God. Alternative strategies for teaching-learning shall foster the development of a goal mind-set in the classroom environment where the acquisition of skills will gradually change one's outlook on education from a renewed perspective of globalization in educational organization. This would imply harnessing capabilities, resources and facilities of the school community so that educational leadership can exercise the political will to forge the development of educational survival schemes which are both creative and transformative. In the light of the above, the Graduate School has the prerogative to create an ambiance that shall facilitate the implementation of the three-fold functions, namely, the instructional function. The development of curricula, the research on teaching techniques and strategies and the involvement of the school community in the projects that would benefit the poor sectors of society would eventually foster the growth and development of the school community.
Therefore, the development of a new value system due to some exigencies in favor of its academic thrust facilities the process of diminishing undesirable elitist structures in the educational system. The institution's preferential option for education for social transformation has brought about the corporate decision to evolve a unique response on the part of the academic community through an outreach program that sustains consistent dialogue between the school community and the poor.
